2003 Penny's Hill Red Dot Shiraz
Winemaker BEN RIGGS continues to innovate, this time with his mentors wine, Penny’s Hill, he introduces the new ZORK PULL CORK. It is an intriguing invention, where by one peels away at the holding tab around the neck of the bottle to free an inert plastic plug which looks like a plastic version of a fortified wine stopper. The plug is easily removed and reinserted – so it is now up to the wine lover to determine whether they will fall in love with this new device.
Opaque black crimson colour with black crimson hue. The nose reveals notes of typical McLaren Vale-Fleurieu ripe fruit, with inky spice, liquorice and plum aromas emerging. Mouth filling palate with flavours of spice, liquorice, blood plum and black pepper. Very typical ‘joosy’ ripe fruit flavours. Fine dry tannins. Very long spice, liquorice, plum and blackberry aftertaste.
