2003 Nicholson River Winery Merlot

Very deep brick red colour with brick red hue. Top note of truffle and mulberry followed by cedar and spice showing strong varietal character. The palate flavour profile is quite tight, with dry chalky tannins, some residual plum back palate flavour. Stewed fruit aftertaste, with dry tannins persisting.

First Tasted, June 2006:
Very deep black crimson colour with deep crimson hue. The nose displays very good varietal character with violet top notes followed by truffle, leather, mulberry and spice. On the palate flavours of stewed fruit are overlaid with leather and truffle. Soft tannins. Long aftertaste of truffle and leather.
