2003 Leconfield Synergy Cabernet Merlot

Opaque black heart with deep crimson mauve hue. Aroma of blackcurrant and mulberry, followed by spice, white pepper and a hint of liquorice allsorts. On the palate, flavours of liquorice and blackcurrant followed by black pepper and spice. The palate appears to be slightly over extracted, revealing a bitter back palate. Flavours of liquorice and spice, with dry chalky tannins which persist into the aftertaste.

First tasted, January 2005:
Opaque black crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Aroma of cedar and blackcurrant followed by a hint of spice and violets. There is a touch of blackcurrant and spice that is evident on the palate, but it is completely overshadowed by fine very dry tannins which are persistent and linger long into the aftertaste. Aftertaste of stewed fruit.
