"...a Toshan at the top of its game and almost freaky in its smokiness. Superb". - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible

Owned by Beam-Suntory, part of this distillery's fame stems from the fact that it's the only operation in Scotland practising triple distillation for its entire range. Since around 2008, that range has expanded considerably with a new contemporary presentation. Independents, like this middle-ager remain relatively uncommon. Bottled at 46% without chill filtration. Very limited stocks.

Other reviews... an unusual, Ardmore-style light smokiness pulses ahead of the sweet, crystalline barley; one of the richest, earthiest experiences I have had from this distillery at such an age. Still, the smoke is evident, forming a compact richness with the developing cocoa at the chewy mid-point; thins out slightly as the vanillas gain the upper hand ; until the tiring fade, a Toshan at the top of its game and almost freaky in its smokiness. Superb. 92.5 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2021

Since its foundation in 1989, Kingsbury Wine & Spirits Co. has been committed to sourcing and bottling malts primarily for the Japanese market by owner Katsuhiko Tanaka with assistance from Springbank's Gordon Wright. There are three tiers in the portfolio: Cask Strength (aka Kingsbury Gold), Limited Edition (aka Kingsbury Silver), and 'The Selection'.
