2002 Ralph Fowler Shiraz Viognier

Ralph Fowler is one of Australia’s top winemakers and since pursuing his own direction, has produced some excellent wines under his name. Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson mauve hue. The nose is very impressive, with lifted aroma particularly being attributed to the Viognier component. Top notes of violets are followed by spice and liquorice all sorts over a spicy oak end note. The palate is full flavoured with violets, blackberry and mint characteristics evident followed by a dark chocolate background. Fine grained tannins, excellent balance with long spiced cherry and liquorice aftertaste.
