TONY PARKINSON is an advertising guru who has a great passion for wine - in fact, so great is his passion that in 1995 he established Penny’s Hill vineyards. One of Australia’s leading viticulturalist, DAVID PAXTON oversees the vineyard at Penny’s Hill. The three vineyard sites, Penny’s Hill, Goss Corner and Malpas Road are all spur pruned by hand, vertical shoot positioned (to allow for maximum sunlight penetration) and trellised using a single cordon. Paxton describes the 2002 vintage as "the best in 16 years."
Opaque deep black crimson colour with deep crimson hue. Aroma of mocca, liquorice, vanilla, plum and blackpepper. The palate reflects the generous nature of the vintage with classic McLaren Vale fruit bomb characteristics emerging. Big and beautiful! Liquorice, ripe plums, chocolate and spice are matched with vanilla and blackpepper. The tannins are fine and quite soft. Very long spice, blackpepper aftertaste.
