2002 Penfolds Koonunga Hill Chardonnay

The 2002 Vintage throughout South Australia was characterised by coolconditions in Spring and Summer. A warm, dry Autumn followed that ensuredthe grapes reached an optimum ripeness. The long ripening period and cooltemperatures ensured a crop was harvested with great character andpersistent flavours.

Pale straw colour with vibrant green hues. The fresh, fruit driven nose displaysmelon and white stone fruit aroma against a backdrop of subtle spicy oak. Asoft round palate of medium weight with an initial burst of vibrant fruitflavours balanced by clean, crisp acidity. Creamy malolactic characters andwell-integrated oak provide structure and depth, offering subtle maltycaramel characters on the sustained finish. Ideally suited to Seafood,Chicken, Pasta.
