The fruit for this wine was sourced from 22 year old vines grown on the LK Vineyard, south of the Clare township with additional material from the Tullymore and Kirribilly Estate vineyards near Clare and Bass Hill, near Auburn. The weather in spring was cool and experienced good rainfall followed by an unusually cool summer. The warm, dry autumn extended the growing season, allowing the grapes to ripen fully.

Fermentation occurred in both open and closed top static fermenters, with a small parcel of fruit given a cold soak which added to the concentration of berry flavours. Totally opaque black brick red colour with brick red hue, showing some development. Top notes of leather and vanilla, followed by confectionary and just a hint of earth, showing an impressive perfumed lift. On the palate, flavours of ripe plum and dark chocolate with hints of mocha and prune. Very good weight and mouthfeel. The flavours are at their peak. Very long aftertaste of prune, dark chocolate and plum.
