2002 Ese Vineyards Pinot Noir

This wine displays considerable cellaring potential. Remarkable colour – opaque black purple with the kind of saturation normally associated with Shiraz. Lifted nose – perfumed, with aroma of violets, black cherry and spice emerging. The palate has considerable weight and a solid structure to see it out for the medium term. Generous flavours of black cherry and spice overlaid by plum and liquorice allsorts. Very good power wave, although not of the same order as say Ata Rangi. Fine dryish tannins, showing good balance, followed by a long spice, plum and cherry aftertaste.
