2002 Cardinham Stradbroke Shiraz

The 60 hectare Cardinham Vineyard was established by Noel and Heather Smith in 1981. An excellent Clare Valley Shiraz with opaque black crimson colour with deep crimson hue. The nose is lifted with aroma of dark chocolate, liquorice, plum and black pepper evident, followed by cedar and spice. The palate is generous, full bodied with a richness of flavour that is characteristic of big Clare Valley reds. There is a hint of earthiness over layers of liquorice, spice and black pepper followed by some subtle vanillan oak. Fine grained tannins, aftertaste of dark chocolate, liquorice, plum and black pepper.
