The Wildwood Vineyard lies on the Boundary of Metropolitan Melbourne in the Oakland Valley of the Sunbury district. Only four kilometres from Melbourne airport, the vineyard was established in 1983 by the Stott family. This is a first class example of Australian Cabernets and if more wine in this style was produced the demand for the blend would increase dramatically. Too many Australian Cabernet wines have been overcropped and have a distinctive herbaceous vegetal character which only gets accentuated with time. This wine is a top cool climate Cabernet with a modest alcohol level of 12.7% - not your ‘big bang for your bucks Shiraz model’ but very flavoursome indeed! The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.

TASTING NOTES: Bright deep crimson colour with crimson hue. The nose is delightful, perfumed with notes of blackcurrant, cassis, spice, aniseed and violets emerging. There is a hint of cedar and tobacco giving the wine an additional complexing layer. The palate has excellent length and depth with mulberry with blackcurrant flavours dominant followed by layers of mocca, tobacco and cedar. Very fine tannins with long aftertaste.
