2001 Taylors St. Andrews Merlot

A generous Merlot, with good structure. Very deep crimson colour with deep crimson brick red hue. The nose is refined with aroma of mulberry, spice and violets followed by a restrained touch of cedar. The palate flavours are full, reflecting the excellent vintage conditions. Flavours of violet infusions, anise, cassis, mulberry and spiced chocolate. Fine, quite dry and chalky tannin structure, yet whilst dry, they do not overpower the fruit flavours. Excellent aftertaste of mulberry and spice.
