2001 Robinvale Wines Demeter Reserve Zinfandel Merlot

One of the benefits of growing and making wine in Australia is that there are no preconceptions about what grape should be blended with what other grape and from where. The results are generally pleasing and often quite surprising. This unusual blend is certified as biodynamic wine. Brick red colour with tawny, brick red hue, showing considerable development. The aromas are totally unexpected. Top note of ripe stewed fruit over raisins, Christmas cake and prunes. The palate reveals a very ripe fruit flavours profile, bordering a Vintage Port. Flavours of prunes, Christmas cake, dates and raisins emerge, creating a funky taste sensation, then the Zinfandel tannins kick in leaving a dry chalky finish and aftertaste of Christmas cake.
