8% Viognier has been added to the blend to create a Rhone style red and matured in French and American oak. Very deep crimson colour with mauve hue. The nose is a touch more restrained than expected with the Viognier component not contributing much at this stage. Aroma of spice and plum followed by a hint of toasted oak. On the palate the spice and stewed fruit flavours emerge followed by very persistent dry tannins which continue long into the aftertaste.
