This sensational McLaren Vale Shiraz is drinking magnificently with bottle age having imparted additional nuances of complexity.

Opaque black dark red colour with very dark red hues. Expressive liquorice and blackberry top notes overlay nuances of vanillin oak, dark chocolate, confectionary, some subtle earth and spice. Rich and layered the palate still packs a ton of luscious fruit featuring velvety textured flavours of liquorice, dark plum and blackberry followed by toasty vanillin oak, dark chocolate, some earthiness and spice. Superb power and concentration with all of the wines components seamlessly integrated with one another, the tertiary complexities just beginning to move in. Finishes with a very long conclusion of liquorice, dark plum, vanillin oak, spice and subtle earthy leather.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc 14.1%

Other Reviews...
The 2001 Shiraz Block 6 Amery Vineyard is built along the lines of the 1998. With 14.8% alcohol, and huge levels of tannin balanced by a wealth of blackberry and cherry fruit intertwined with sweet notes of compost, smoke, camphor, and earth, this massively full-bodied, dense, opaque purple-colored effort is Shiraz at its most concentrated. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025. Patience!
