An excellent example of Yarra Valley Merlot. Opaque black crimson colour, with purple mauve hue. The nose is impressive and delivers some complexity and style, as distinct from many more Commercial Merlots that tend to have soft tannins and plummy primary fruit as their major attributes. Smokey oak notes followed by blackcurrant, mulberry, truffle, spice and liquorice allsorts. The palate has weight, with distinct mulberry flavours followed by spicy oak. The tannin structure is a touch firm, but carries the fruit very well. Very long spice, blackpepper aftertaste.
