2001 Gembrook Hill Pinot Noir

IAN MARKS has persisted for some years with Pinot Noir and as his vines age, the quality escalates. This is one of the best examples that we have seen from the Yarra Valley in recent years. Deep ruby crimson colour. The nose is very appealing with distinctive varietal character. Notes of plum and spiced black cherries followed by endnotes of strawberry and spice. The palate has good weight with a velvet texture and impressive power and persistence. Flavours of spice, strawberries and smoky oak are enhanced by a strawberry overlay. Fine grained tannins. Perfect balance with exceptionally long aftertaste.
