National Rums of Jamaica operates the Long Pond distillery. The company is a three-way partnership between the Jamaican government, Demerara Distillers Ltd., and the West Indies Rum Distillery. They sell a significant amount of bulk spirit. This one's about as clean and soft a rum you could imagine for the ABV. It opens with medium-sweet molasses cake, vanillan oak and spikes of heat adding prickle and depth. Dense fruit and funk gather momentum and the tropical freshness is nicely defined; sweet oak is countered by green banana, then hints of gunpowder and struck match complexing the finish. 56.2% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 100% Pot distilled with continental ageing in a single x-rum cask yielding 220 bottles.
