Tasting note: From fresh charred American oak hogsheads, this brass-gold coloured whisky is a little vague in the first few passes, slowly gaining definition with semi-ripe apple, pear and citrus peel notes. Later, biscuity malt comes to the fore. The delivery has a crisp, spicy and mildly astringent feel, with some mid-palate prickle. It’s better with water, bringing out the distillery’s sought-after orchard fruit profile. 55% Alc./Vol.
