By all accounts, the 1998 Zema Estate Cabernet Sauvignon ought to have surpassed the 1999 Cabernet, yet our opinion, the quality is the other way around. We detected an element of leafiness in the 1998, whereas the 1999 is an essay of ripe fruit flavours. This wine has been matured in small French and American oak casks for 16 months. Opaque crimson colour with a black heart. Superb aroma of mocca, chocolate, spice, blackcurrant and cedar. Mouthfilling palate with excellent depth and concentration of flavour. Dark chocolate, spice, blackcurrant and liquorice flavours are perfectly counter pointed by velvet smooth tannins and a peppery back palate. Exceptionally long aftertaste of toasted oak, spice and blackcurrant. An outstanding Zema! Cellar 5-8 years. Be quick – stock are very limited.
