Notes sourced from Wolf Blass

The Wolf Blass Grey Label has been produced from Langhorne Creek since the first vintage in 1967. The region is renowned for its deep, rich alluvial soil, which produces wines of great richness and enormous depth of flavour.

The growing conditions leading up to the 1999 vintage were excellent in the region. The fruit for this wine was sourced from several of the older and established vineyards in Langhorne Creek.

After crushing, the fruit began fermentation in traditional static fermenters with regular pump over to extract colour and flavour. The wine then finished fermentation in new French and American oak barrels and was then aged in these barrels for a further 28 months.

The 1999 Wolf Blass Grey Label is a deep red colour and shows very good varietal cabernet characters. On the nose the wine exhibits classic characters of mint and eucalypt with some supporting nuances of chocolate and plums. The palate is full bodied with exceptional layers of berry fruit and chocolate oak. The finish is soft and smooth with excellent length. This wine will cellar well for 6 to 8 years.
