1999 The Willows Vineyard Barossa Shiraz

A monumentally solid wine with classic Barossa voluptuous fruit flavour and Grange like body weight and power. Totally opaque, black crimson colour, with deep black crimson hue. Very distinct aroma of vanilla, spice, liquorice allsorts and dark chocolate. The palate displays monumental fruit and structure. Flavours of vanilla, liquorice, plum and toasted oak are supported by dark plum and dark chocolate end flavour. Excellent balance, fine grained tannins followed by very long aftertaste of dark chocolate, spice and plum. Cellar 3 – 4 years. (2004 – 2005) This wine will no doubt live longer than the 3 – 4 years, but the danger is that tarry backpalate flavours will emerge after this period.
