1999 Rosemount Estate Show Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

A big Cabernet with some excellent notes on the nose, but fails to deliver on the palate. Very deep crimson, brick red colour. The nose is appealing, with intense notes of violets, plum, liquorice straps, blackcurrant and cedar. The palate has some very ripe flavours with mocca and dark chocolate being very evident, followed by prune, tar and stewed fruit. The tannins are dry, very persistent and even a touch too assertive, creating a very firm tarry, plum and spice finish to the wine.
