Medium body, crimson colour. Aroma of earth, leather, spice and liquorice with an ‘animal’ like Rhone flavour. On the palate, flavours of plum, spice and stewed fruits, followed by some earthy backpalate flavours. Dry but soft tannin structure, followed by an aftertaste of earth plum and spice. Not one of the great Pike’s Reds, and very much a product of the year. Cellar 3-4 years.
