1999 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz

The Bin 389 continues the ‘Grange’s little brother’ concept, by spelling out on the back label that the wines are matured in Grange ‘hand me downs oak casks’. Very deep crimson black colour. Aroma of vanilla and cedar are followed by pronounced notes of blackcurrant with stewed plum end notes and just a hint of earth. The palate structure is elegant, with flavours of liquorice and blackcurrant over a layer of spicy oak. Fine grained firmish tannins, followed by a long spice, blackcurrant, cedar and liquorice aftertaste. Cellar 3 – 4 years. (2004 – 2005)
