A magnificent red, made from vines planted in 1892. Very deep crimson mauve colour. The nose has a distinct earthy, animal nose, followed by notes of liquorice and spice. The ‘animal’ qualities of this wine are very dominant. Full bodied, very earthy palate flavours over a layer of ripe blackberry and plum fruit, with a very spicy blackpepper end palate. Fine soft tannins, but none the less exerting their influence. Perfect balance, followed by a very long earthy, animal aftertaste. Cellar 5 – 8 years.
