Crimson brick red colour with crimson hue. Aroma of earth and stewed fruit, followed by a hint of leather and spice. The nose displays aroma of stewed fruit with flavours of leather, earth and plum evident. The structure and concentration are lighter than the 1998. On the back palate, the dark chocolate flavour components tend to override the plum. Moderate length. Soft tannins, followed by an aftertaste of earth, plum and spice.
