This is the star of 1999 Clarendon Hills new releases. Opaque crimson colour with deep crimson mauve edge. Superb nose of violets, confectionery, vanilla, spice, fresh liquorice and plum. A wonderful sniff ! The palate has complexity with great concentration of flavour. Totally mouthfilling with liquorice and toasted oak in the background. The high toasted oak flavours form the backbone of this wine but are well supported by the generous ripe fruit. Fine grained dry tannins, lingering, yet perfectly balanced. Exceptionally long aftertaste, with just a hint of tarriness emerging.
