This wine was named in honour of Edward Brown, Ronald Brown’s father. In many ways, naming a wine in honour of a parent or relative is a bit risky - if the wine falls short of the mark, then it could be concluded than there is some bad blood in the family, however in Donald Brown’s case, it’s certainly a tribute. The wine has been matured for 18 months in French and American oak. Brilliant, opaque black crimson mauve colour. The nose reveals distinct notes of mocha, dark chocolate, spice followed by confectionary, dark chocolate and a hint of vanilla. The palate delivers some excellent flavours of mocha, spice, blood plum and dark cherries. Fine, slightly firmish tannins, followed by a long mocha, spice and dark cherry aftertaste.
