1999 Bannockburn Shiraz

Australian Shiraz has become synonymous with body weight and super ripe palate flavours, yet there exists another style of Shiraz that has enjoyed equal success. This alternative style is lighter in weight and displays both elegance and finesse. The 1999 Bannockburn is an outstanding essay in refinement.Very deep crimson mauve colour. Superb nose with aroma of cedar, blackcurrant, spice, pepper, blackberry followed by a hint of liquorice all sorts. The palate is impressive. There is a sense of weight and refinement, finesse and elegance. Filled with the flavours of ripe plums and blackberries enhanced by a black pepper character and meshed with velvet smooth tannins. The earthy Rhone like components are missing – this is cool climate Australian Shiraz. Very long aftertaste of spice, stewed plums, blackberries and black pepper. Cellar 4-5 years.
