1999 Andrew Garrett Bold Shiraz
Notes sourced from Beringer Blass
Andrew Garrett Wines are based in South Australia’s McLaren Vale. Winemaker Charles Hargrave sources fruit from a number of premium wine producing regions, to produce a diverse range of premium wines. The Andrew Garrett philosophy of producing quality, individual wines has earned the winery a reputation for innovation and excellence in winemaking.
The fruit for this wine was sourced from selected vineyards in Langhorne Creek, one of South Australia’s premium grape growing regions. The vineyards are planted on rich alluvial loams and sandy clays.
Shiraz was picked when fully ripe to maximise fruit flavour. Following crushing and de-stemming the juice was transferred to stainless steel fermenting tanks. Following a warm ferment and traditional cap management, the wine was transferred to a combination of new American and French oak hogsheads for up to fifteen months.
The 1999 Andrew Garrett Bold Shiraz is a deep garnet colour showing a youthful vibrance. Concentrated fragrant aromas of blackberry jam and spice fill the bouquet that shows nuances of quality oak. Sweet fruit dominates the palate displaying complexity and spicy richness in a full body texture that finishes long with finely grained tannins. Cellar 5 to 7 years.
