Opaque, youthful inky purple mauve colour - vibrant with youth. Its a pity the1998 Norman reds have not been held back in oak for several months as they have excellent potential to cellar and develop complexity. Aromas of vanilla, spice and pronounced black pepper. The palate is exceptionally peppery particularly at the end, followed by cloves, spice and blackberry flavours. Fine grained tannin structure, firmish yet in balance, followed by a long clove, black pepper aftertaste. Cellar 5-8 years.
