1998 Matua Valley Smith-Dartmoor Merlot

Deep crimson mauve colour. Very appealing nose, wit aromas of spice, liquorice, mulberry and a touch of truffle as an end note. The structure is firm and the wine destined for at least 3-4 years cellaring. Good palate weight and flavour, with earthy, truffle and mulberry flavours dominant. Fine dry tannins with a aftertaste that reveals a touch of tea leaf and herbaceousness which was not evident elsewhere in the wine.
