An excellent wine produced from 30-35 year old vines. Totally opaque crimson mauve colour. Aroma of mocha, violets, blackcurrant and spice. Full bodied palate, with flavours of very ripe plums, spice and blackcurrants with liquorice all sorts and black pepper on the back palate. Fine grained, velvet smooth tannins, followed by a long aftertaste of plum, spice and stewed fruit. This wine was runner up to the 1999 Jimmy Watson Trophy. Cellar 4-5 years.
