1998 Ingoldby Chardonnay

Bright pale straw colour with a greenish tinge. Aromas of toasted oak, butterscotch, yeast lees and cashew with the butterscotch being a little two pronounced. On the palate the vanillin oak flavours dominate with spice and butterscotch competing for a position on the palate. Full flavoured, almost overblown by the dominance of oak and butterscotch but mouthfilling. The acid levels are satisfactory in the short term. Aniseed, butterscotch and spice on the aftertaste with a trace of bitterness at the very end. Cellar 2-3 years.
