1998 Gordon & Macphail Connoisseurs Choice Caol Ila 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

From independent bottlers, Gordon & Macphail, this bottling from the Caol Ila Distillery was distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2010 from a first fill Sherry butt.

Tasting note: Bright pale gold / straw colour. Soft sweet peat, mildly briny, with a hint of lanolin. Not surprisingly, the nose is almost identical to the distillery bottling of the same age, however the palate is probably less textural . It delivers a medium dry, mid weight profile with a smokey, spicy burst followed by hints of citrus and betadine. Cocoa finish. Ends dry and pleasantly warming with an interesting smoked meat aftertaste that has good staying power. 43% Alc./Vol.
