The eighth addition to the Bond House No.1 Collection, Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1998 showcases some of the first 'Morangie ever to be aged in new charred oak barrels. Distilled in 1998, the year Dr Bill Lumsden became Director of Whisky Creation, the 23-year-old limited edition results from one of his earliest experiments. By marrying that experimental whisky’s intense colour and spice with other casks selected for notes of ginger, baked apples and orange chocolate, Dr Bill brings a delectable twist to Glenmorangie’s fruity finesse. 43% Alc./Vol.

Notes from the producers... Ripe pears, plums and baked apples are drizzled with rich toffee sauce. Then comes gentle oak and creamy vanilla, touched by fresh mint leaves and a spiralling scent of incense. A splash of water reveals Glenmorangie’s classic citrus side, light with lemon and mandarin orange. Sweet tobacco is brushed with lavender and a sprinkling of ginger. Zesty, vibrant fruits pop in the mouth, smoothened by chocolate and soft butter candy, scattered with raisins and figs. Then, deliciously hinting at the new charred oak, comes orange chocolate, spiced with clove, ginger, aniseed and sweet chilli. Subtle and mellow. A harmony of sugared almonds, leather and dates.
