1998 Coriole Lalla Rookh Semillon

An outstanding wine. The grapes were fully matured and display ripe fruit flavours, rather than the lean grassy flavours that may be found in many Hunter Valley Semillons. Complexity has been achieved by partial barrel fermentation in French oak and lees contact for a three month period. Bright straw colour. Superb nose with aromas of tropical fruits, hints of toasted honey, yeast lees and subtle oak integration, with just a trace of grassy end notes. The oak is well balanced yet evident on the palate with honeyed tropical fruit, vanilla and spice flavours evident. Crisp acid finish with long lingering oak, cinnamon and spice aftertaste. Cellar 3-5 years.
