1998 Coldstream Hills Reserve Pinot Noir

Notes sourced from Southcorp Wines.1998 was another very warm totally dry vintage. After very small yields in 1996 and 1997 (less than 1 tonne to the acre), the 1998 pinot noir was back to average yields (less than 2 tonnes to the acre). Medium purple red colour. There is excellent balance and integration of the fruit and oak; spice and plum aromas will progressively develop as the wine settles down in the bottle. A classically structured wine typical of the Coldstream Hills style; a long palate which expands exponentially on the finish, rounded off with fine tannins. Has come on considerably since being bottled, but will not really open up until around 2001. Cellar 3-5 years. Stocks are extremely limited. 14% alcohol volume.
