1998 Blass Barossa Valley Shiraz

Wine maker Caroline Dunn, has produced an outstanding wine from 15-20 year old low cropped vines. Fermented in small 8 tonne, open fermenters and aged in French and American Barriques. Very deep crimson black colour. Delightful, perfumed nose, with aroma of violets, black pepper and spice, followed by a liquorice end note. The palate flavours do not disappoint, with classic Barossa voluptuousness emerging. Flavours of black pepper, over a background of confectionery, blood plum and blackberry. Excellent smoked oak integration. Perfect balance, fine grained tannins, followed by a very long black pepper and spice aftertaste. Cellar 4-5 years. The wine has been awarded 2 trophies, 6 Gold Medals and 4 Silver and 7 Bronze.
