1997 Voyager Estate Shiraz Grenache

Grenache is hardly a grape variety one expects to find in Margaret River, it being more suited to the warmer Barossa climate, however, at Voyager they have Grenache vines that are 20 years old. Opaque crimson colour. The nose reveals a very strong Rhone influence and has considerable similarities to the 1997 Cape Mentelle Shiraz. Lifted aromas of earth, plums, spice and liquorice. Full bodied, a solidly constructed wine, filled with flavour of ripe plums, chocolate and liquorice. Excellent length, fine grained firmish tannins, followed by long plum, spice and liquorice aftertaste. Cellar 8-10 years.
