1997 Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz

Very deep brick red colour. Aroma of prune, stewed fruit, hint of leather and earth over a layer of ripe plum and liquorice. The palate lacks the richness and structure of what is considered to be the benchmark of Peter Lehmann wines. Relatively light flavours emerge of stewed fruit, cedar and plum. Moderate length with chocolate, plum and spice back palate flavour. Fine grained tannins, with finally some blackpepper characteristics emerging over stewed fruit, mocca and liquorice. A well made wine, but hardly filling the status of Stonewell!
