Notes sourced from Jim Barry.

The vineyard is called "Armagh" because the area in which it is situated was originally settled by the Irish and named after their homeland. The 8-acre vineyard was planted in 1968 and yields less than 12 tonnes per acre. The soil is sandy-gravel and receives an average rainfall of 24 inches per year.Dark red to black in colour. The nose shows balanced American and French oak, with luxurious blackcurrant aromas and a scent of cedar that fills the glass. On the palate the flavours flood the mouth with masses of rich blackberry fruit and a strong backbone for added length. The fruit is balanced superbly by 50% new American and 50% new French oak. The tannins finish soft and round. Cellar 10-15 years.14.5% alcohol volume.
