1995 Cadenheads Small Batch Glen Spey 22 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Little known Glen Spey is one of the smallest of Diageo's thirty distilleries. It's never had a brand of its own, and if you have encountered it, it was probably via the Flora & Fauna series. Virtually everything produced here goes into blends, especially J&B, yet, surprisingly, for the last three years there's been no whisky produced at all - only gin. That will likely continue through 2024 making this producer all the more difficult to find. Cadenhead's well-aged offering was distilled in 1995 and decanted in 2018 from two x-bourbon hogsheads. 438 bottles are available at 57.9% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.
Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Grassy notes and porridge move to vanilla pods. Flavour: Quite peppery. Grassy notes continue before grapefruit comes through. Finish: Long and zesty with lemongrass.
