1996 Sorrenberg Chardonnay

This is a very complex and flavour filled Chardonnay from a very low profile winery. The Sorrenberg vineyard consists of 3Ha of vines, producing a mere 1200 cases annually. Located North East of Beechworth, winemaker Barry Morey begins to attain some of the complexity that is found in the remarkable wines of Giaconda. Bright pale straw colour. The nose is quite pronounced with aromas of toasted oak, cashew, biscuit and barrel ferment character. The palate displays complexity with biscuit lees and almond flavours dominant over a toasty oak background. Clean crisp acidity with long toasty almond cashew aftertaste. Cellar 3 - 5 years.
