1996 Leasingham Classic Clare Cabernet Sauvignon

Produced from low yielding vines grown on the Provis vineyard in Clare and matured for 24 months in French oak hogsheads. Opaque crimson colour and like its sister wine the 1996 Shiraz, it is already thick with black purple fine sediment. Superb perfumed vanilla, chocolate spice and blackcurrant nose. The palate is substantial. Very strong flavour of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum fruit followed by vanilla and toasted oak. Firm tannic grip of Cabernet followed by a chocolate, plum and spice aftertaste with a hint of liquorice and firm lingering persistent dry tannins. Cellar 8-10 years.
