1996 Glengoyne 13 Year Old Port Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Distilled: November 1996, Bottled: June 2010, Total production: 2,817 bottles.

Tasting note: Deep gold colour. First passings prickle the nostrils. An initial rubber band note slowly dissipates with time in the glass but refuses to go away. More rubber band repeats on the palate carried by a slightly hot, bitter spirit through which any pleasant whisky flavours are barely discernible. Short, drying aftertaste. Pass. 46% Alc./Vol.

(N.B. Contrary to this note, we're informed that, somewhat surprisingly, once this whisky opens up via decanting, it’s a considerably more interesting drink. Unfortunately the size of our sample didn't permit experimentation).
