1996 Coriole Redstone Dry Red

The Redstone is another outstanding release from Coriole. Made from a blend of 55% Shiraz, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Grenache, this wine has magnificent colour and structure with added complexity due to the blend. Opaque crimson mauve colour. The nose is pronounced with spicy liquorice and ripe blackberry aromas dominant. The palate has incredible depth of flavour with the sort of concentration that has now become the hallmark of the great 1996 McLaren Vale vintage. Flavours of ripe blackberries, liquorice and mixed berries are enhanced by a subtle earthy background flavour. The tannins are perfectly balanced to the fruit but quite fine, firm and dry, lingering well into the aftertaste. A magnificent red, cellar 8 - 10 years.
