1996 was a Great vintage in Clare. The drought conditions produced reds of great weight and concentration of flavour. Magnificent opaque crimson purple colour. The nose is filled with concentrated blackcurrant, ripe plum, spice and dark chocolate aromas. The palate is a concentration of flavours - packed solid and supported by a monumental tannin finish. Concentrated blackcurrants, chocolate, mint and spice flavours encase every corner and would otherwise be overwhelming if not supported by fine yet firm tannins. Outstanding depth and length with very long aftertaste. Cellar 10-15 years.
