1995 Gordon & Macphail Connoisseurs Choice Glentauchers 25 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Definitely a distillery on Scotland's 'hard-to-find' list, Pernod-Ricard owned Glentauchers has been reserved as filling for blends like Buchanan's Black, Teachers and Ballantines. Officially, a 15 year old was released in 2017, followed by a 23 year old in 2021. G&M satisfy malt hunters with this fairly large outturn from a first-fill sherry butt yielding 595 bottles. The set up, which includes long ferments and slow distillation, produces a lighter distillate. Will it be overwhelmed by this single sherry cask? Notes from the bottlers... Vanilla aromas combine with cherries and chocolate. Sweet yet spicy with rich orange marmalade, stewed fruits and oak. The finish holds lingering aniseed.
